On November 23rd, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the list of newly-elected foreign academicians for the year 2023. In 2023, a total of 30 foreign academicians were elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The academic fields include earth sciences, information science and technology, chemistry, and mathematical physics, among others. The newly-elected foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences come from 22 different countries, making the national distribution of the foreign academician team even more extensive, with 5 individuals coming from countries that are part of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
